Study Skills
Most study skills programs focus on specific techniques for things
like note taking, memorizing, and organizing study time. While these
things are important, the factors that are most important to success
in learning have to do with adopting the correct attitudes for learning.
The bible has a lot to say on this topic. Goahead study skills focuses
on building a biblical foundation to develop attitudes for successful
learning.

Study
Techniques
There are many techniques that you can help you to study. Probably
the most important tip is to remember that studying isn't something
you should leave until the day before a test. Pick one subject to
review in addition to your regular homework every day. Here are
some specific study techniques that I have found useful.
1. Cornell Method - I use a variation of this well-known method
of notetaking for memorizing definitions and terms, etc. Divide
a sheet of paper into 2 columns, a wide one on the right and a narrow
one on the left. Write your term in the left column and the definition
in the right column. Now, fold the left column over backwards. Use
this study sheet to memorize the terms. Read the name of the term
in the left column and see if you can remember the definition. Say
them both out loud. Then flip the paper over and look at the right
column to see if you were right.
2. Question method - This is a great way to take notes from a textbook.
Most textbooks are divided into chapters with headings and subheadings.
Turn each heading and subheading into a question and find the answer
in the passage. Write your question and answer, and voila! notes.
